Mason Greenwood made an impressive full debut for Getafe, registering an assist in a La Liga match, which marked his first start in 613 days since his last appearance for Manchester United.

The 21-year-old forward Mason Greenwood joined Getafe on loan during the summer transfer window, aiming to revive his career after an extended period without regular playing time.

After initially coming on as a substitute in his first two appearances for Getafe, Greenwood was included in the starting lineup for a match against Athletic Club.

He repaid the faith shown in him by setting up a goal in the second half, assisting Gaston Alvarez's equalizer to level the scores at 1-1. Getafe ultimately secured a 2-2 draw.

Greenwood's last start in a game dated back to January 22, 2022, when he featured in Manchester United's 1-0 victory over West Ham at Old Trafford. Shortly after that match, he was suspended due to his arrest on suspicion of attempted rape, assault, and coercive control.

These charges were dropped in February 2023, allowing Greenwood to resume his professional career. However, Manchester United's lengthy internal investigation concluded in August, resulting in the club parting ways with the one-time England international.

Before joining Getafe, Greenwood had been linked with clubs in Italy and Turkey. Despite facing opposition from rival fans, Greenwood has been welcomed by the Getafe team and supporters.

His every touch during the match against Athletic Club was met with whistles from the opposing fans, but Getafe will return to their home stadium on Saturday when they host Villarreal.
