Egyptian forward Mohamed Salah will not participate in Egypt's final Africa Cup of Nations group stage match against Ethiopia.
Originally, Mohamed Salah was set to join the national team camp on Monday to prepare for their last Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Ethiopia on September 8. However, reports now suggest that Egypt's coach, Rui Vitoria, has decided to rest Salah, given that the Pharaohs have already secured their qualification for the competition. Nevertheless, the 31-year-old will be part of the international friendly against Tunisia on September 12.
Salah's future at Liverpool came under scrutiny following reports that Saudi Pro League club Al-Ittihad made a £150 million ($189 million) offer on the transfer deadline day. However, Liverpool rejected the bid. Al-Ittihad may return with a larger offer in an effort to persuade Liverpool to allow Salah to depart.
After scoring in Liverpool's 3-0 victory over Aston Villa on Sunday, the Egyptian star will join his national team for the upcoming friendly.
